How did you get involved with the Creative Connection and specifically the panel “How to launch a business”?
I worked with one of the CC founders, Nancy Soriano, when she was the editor-in-chief at Country Living magazine. She asked me if I’d be interested in participating and I was happy to work with her again.
What does “Creative Connection” mean to you?
I think it’s all about following your dreams, doing what you love, and celebrating it with a huge group of women who are creative and supportive.
What are you most excited about the event?
I love being a part of anything that is helpful to other women in business.
What is the best part of being able to connect with other entrepreneurial women?
I think it’s so helpful to be able to talk with other entrepreneurs and hear their successes, their struggles, and to help each other grow.
Did you always want to start your own business?
I was always entrepreneurial. I started by selling mud pies, using antique tin toy molds, to my parent’s friends when they would visit.
Before you had your first antiques sale did you have any inkling that it might be more than once or a regular thing?
I knew I wanted the sale to happen every year and hoped that other people would like it enough to support that dream. I didn’t imagine it being such a big hit right from the start.
What is the one piece of advice you wish someone had told you before you started?
That a successful business can be very time consuming. I had no idea what I was getting into.
What inspires you the most?
I love going new places. Architecture, different foods, fashion, it all creates a spark for me.
What do you see yourself doing in 5 years?
I look forward to really building on The Farm Chicks as a lifestyle brand and continuing to explore more branding opportunities.
What is your latest Fall craft craze?
I’ve been collecting lots of acorns and leaves and have been using them at the store for cute displays and garlands.
