Welcome to the Big Little Felt Universe, where everyday items take on a new, soft, squishably form–and it’s all about FUN. The author, Jeanette Lim, lives in Singapore and is a felt artist extraordinaire. She is an Etsy star who has sold close to 9,000 patterns of her designs since she opened her shop (umecrafts) in the fall of 2007. Her wild popularity stems from her ability to create pretty much anything out of felt.

In Jeanette’s first just-released book, readers will find not only temptingly realistic sweets, and fruits and veggies that you’d swear were just plucked from the tree or earth, but also fantastically whimsical items, like houseplants. You don’t need a green thumb to create Jeanette’s trio of potted plants—Lucky Bamboo, African Violet, and a wonderfully spine-free cactus—just felt, a needle, and thread. Miserable weather outdoors? Have a campout in your living room, complete with compass, pocketknife, campfire, and s’mores. While you’re camped out inside, invite the neighbors for a cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs on the felt barby. We’ve got all the fixin’s too.

Hundreds of simple step-by-step photos lead you gently through creating over 70 felty fun projects.

And because we want to share the love, we’re giving away one of the featured patterns—an ice cream Sundae, complete with three toppings, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. Get it: Sundae instrux.
