Making Art

I’m not much of a crafter, but I have been making my own style of artwork since I was young. I would like to share my process with you. It begins with a box of scrap wood collected from various deck construction sites. I pick out my favorite pieces and quickly assemble them into whatever feels right—a quick assembly lessens the chance of thinking too much. Next, I glue the pieces down and cover the them in layers of leftover paint and sawdust. (Yup, I hardly ever throw anything away, there is no “away.”) I enjoy the haphazard quality of pouring stuff on and seeing what kinds of patterns and textures emerge. I get inspired by observing the different kinds of moss on my Sunday hikes. I can only hope to do as well as Nature! Check back in a few weeks to see the final product.

Love seeing all of the process shots before a final piece. Each of these photos almost looks like its own little abstract work.
