Mixing it up with Sami Havia

This week’s mixed tape wanders from the usual listing of tunes the Craft Your Life team is listening to this week. While lurking the blogosphere, I found some very interesting work from a Finnish artist living in Helsinki. His choice of media ranges from drawing to painting and printmaking. These paintings on discarded cassette tapes caught my eye both for the visual appeal of the painting and the clever repurposing of old tapes (with ¬†convenient holes for hanging.) Check out these and other works at: www.samihavia.com

Wow. I love that he is creating art on old tapes. What a creative way to re-use the tapes most likely heading for land fill.

Really interesting art based on real artistic skills. Love the fact that Lark included this kind of art to view in their categories. Love the eclectic nature of this new Lark creation. Look forward to browsing all categories.

I really love the colors on the work on the right. Wouldn't that be great somehow recreated as a quilt?

Rattling clean internet site, thanks for this post.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
