Paper Under Glass: Helen Musselwhite

Helen Musselwhite is a British paper artist included in Lark Crafts’ upcoming gallery book, PUSH: Paper. I am fascinated by her ability to combine simple shapes with complex texture or complex shapes in a limited palette—or both. These flat, hand-cut graphic forms are masterfully layered in a shadow-box style, which accents the mystery and depth of the natural spaces and its inhabitants that she portrays. She takes this dimensional quality a step further by creating 360° scenes showcased under glass domes.
