Recycled jewel cases

In the spirit of music related craft and art projects, this week’s post makes use of all those useless CD jewel cases now that you have downloaded all of your CDs to your iPod. Instead of dumping all that plastic, turn them into a super-cool wall mural. Photojojo has a helpful tutorial along with a video to help you along. Instructables also has a very easy to follow how-to using a similar technique for a slightly different result. I love this idea. There’s something about the modular square format paired with colorful, abstract photography that feels very modern and clean. Now, Cue up your favorite playlist, dig out your discarded CD cases and go make something.

    I almost threw a huge bag of them out the other day…my husband told me to keep them. For what I asked? Now maybe I know why!

    This is actually a really good project to try with students ~ but I think we're going to combine it with a genealogy theme. Great idea!

    I have one child in graduate school and one going into her fourth year of college, what a wonderful inexpensive way to decorate their apartments. Recycling at its best!
