This Dog’s Life with Ira G

August 13, 2010, 06:00 am  Posted by Craft Your Life Team

From Asheville, North Carolina, it’s This Dog’s Life. I’m Ira G. Each FRIDAY, of course, I pick a theme and present a story around that theme.

This week’s story: I Heart Camping! Don’t you? I mean: Sleeping under the stars; catching bugs; eating sausage scraps from a cast-iron pan. What’s not to love?

Last weekend, I got to check out Linville Gorge (the Grand Canyon of the Carolinas) with my mom and her friends Catie and Rebecca. Thanks for the sausage, ladies!

Do you have any summertime camping stories to share? What do you love most about “roughing it?” Any recommendations of must-see sights? Lemme know, I’d love to hear from you.

Chloe the Dog loves the freedom of camping. So much freedom and running around, in fact, that she asks to be let into the tent to go to sleep before the sun even goes down.

    Deannebriggs says:

Ira G!!! you had your own tent?! “tentomatic”? awesome. that's it. Sahara's going campign w/me tonight! we'll have to pick up some sausage, though.

I went camping on the Potomac once and saw a baby fox. It was pretty awesome. And there were lots of geese for dogs to chase.

This Goose (my nickname) would love to chase some geese. How fun! Thanks for sharing, Clayjane.

Ira, you are ADORABLE. Frankie and I are hoping to be dog owners soon, and we would be lucky to find one as nice as you. We love “This Dog's Life”, and follow it religiously :) XXX Marlo & Frankie

Ira, did you take any photos? Sounds beautiful. (And by the way, you adorable dog, if you come visit us up in NYC, we'll make sure you get some sausage, too!)

      thisdogslife says:

      Hi, Karen B!
If I come to New York will you take me to Nathans? I've heard their hot dogs are world famous. And maybe later we can ride the old Coney Island roller coaster if you promise to hold me tight.
      Happy wags,

        Karen B. says:

Of course we can go to Nathans, Ira! (And yes, they ARE the best hot dogs.) But as for going on the Cyclone…well, I'll have to think about that. Hmmmm.

    Growrr is the best word.

    Argylsok says:

Ira, you should visit Algonquin Park in Ontario! You can chat with deer, bears, coyotes and owls in our great provincial park, and the scenery is delightful!

As to camping… my idea of 'roughing it' is to visit Deerhurst Inn. Living in a tent is beyond me — 'cause if you want the camping experience, you can roll in dirt and sleep in your garage overnight. <Cheshire Cat grin>

You actually make it appear really easy together with your presentation but I to find this topic to be really something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complicated and very huge for me. I am taking a look ahead on your next post, I will try to get the dangle of it!
