From Asheville, North Carolina, it’s This Dog’s Life. I’m Ira G. Each week, of course, I pick a theme and present a story in four panels.

Today on our program: Looking Back. How do you overcome a rough start in life? Sometimes it feels like the deck is stacked; like the universe is almost conspiring against you. And then it gives you chicken…and love. Stay tuned.

    awweee Ira!

    Kathleen McCafferty says:

Ira promises to work on his drawing skills — and his handwriting too. :)

    Dee says:

I don't get the chicken part. oh i love this project though. but i don't get how chicken saved him. maybe i need a 5th panel? and Sahara would say, if she said things, “how can I get a doghawk?”

      Kathleen McCafferty says:

You're right, Dee. It does seem kind of random. But it's true! There's a lot unsaid between the panels. When I “chose” Ira he was in really bad shape. So I fed him chicken. And he recovered!

        Dee says:

Oh pft. okay. that makes sense. i'm really looking forward to meeting him and his doghawk.

          Kathleen McCafferty says:

He's looking forward to meeting you too, and pining for the day he gets to meet Sahi. Someday. He also thinks she's too pretty for a 'hawk.

    Savannah says:

This is so great Kathleen! I can't wait to see what comes next!

      Kathleen McCafferty says:

      Thanks, Savannah! :)

    Tracy says:

    yay for ira G!!!!!

    Rachael says:

when i was about 11 or 12 i used to draw comics about how all of our dogs (we had about 6 at the time) were in a traveling band. this reminds me of those days, but a million times better. plus ira is the doggie rock star of all time <3

      Kathleen McCafferty says:

Rachael, I love that so much! Did you keep any of the comics? Dang. Six dogs!?

    Rebecca says:

cute ass, mama! Love it. Rebecca

    VO says:

    deborah says:
