Diane Fitzgerald’s Favorite Beading Projects: Designs from Stringing to Beadweaving is the brand new book from one of the world’s most popular beading designers and authors. It presents 25 beading projects for a range of skill levels and with a range of techniques. Everyone will find a lot to love in this book, from new beaders to very experienced ones! Here’s how Jennifer VanBenschoten described the book last week in a review on her great VanBeads blog Jewelry, Art and Life:

“These projects represent the very best of Diane’s extensive technical knowledge when it comes to crafting beaded jewelry. There are knotting projects, beadweaving projects, and assemblage projects that use some basic wire skills to create. Not all of the projects are technically challenging for an advanced beader, but they are most inspiring. In the Buddhist tradition of getting back to a ‘beginner’s mind,’ some of these projects will provide a wonderful and welcome break when you just want to bead something beautiful. If you want to expand your general jewelry-making skills to include work with fibers, fabric, and knotting, this is the book for you. Diane has really allowed herself to develop as an artist over the course of her career, and this book is a delightful compilation of all the skills and techniques she has mastered along the way. For any serious bead artist looking for something new to try, Diane Fitzgerald’s Favorite Beading Projects will provide hours of enjoyable beading projects.”

You can preview the book at two other blog posts: download a PDF of the Fortune Teller Beads necklace project from the book here AND see a preview of photos of projects in the book and download a PDF of the beautiful Midnight Snowflakes necklace project here.

We’re giving away a signed copy of Diane Fitzgerald’s Favorite Beading Projects paired with a signed copy of Diane’s classic book Diane Fitzgerald’s Shaped Beadwork: Dimensional Jewelry with Peyote Stitch, which was the best-selling first book released in Lark Jewelry & Beading’s Beadweaving Master Class series.

    http://www.bellomodo.com/. Thanks.

What a great idea! I love auracrystals.com for their variety of seed beads and swarovski and super-super quick shipping!

My favorite bead store went out of business! Hated to see it go!! Diane is one of my favorite beadwork designers. I have loved her books for many years.

    Rebecca Jake says:

I wish there was a local bead store that I could shop at, about ten years ago, when there was a great bead store here, I had the opportunity to take two classes from Diane.  It was an unbelievable experience, I learned a lot.

    Gill says:

    the book sounds great

    Diane Jones says:

Love Diane’s books! Her directions are so easy to follow!

    Karen Ringen says:

Diane spoke at my local Bead Society meeting and I stood in the book signing line for a chance to talk to her. I also showed her a piece I had beaded from her Zulu book. That day she challenged me to another piece from the same book. I hope to someday show her that piece too. Her work is amazing and I am always inspired by her.

Lovely projects!!!I usually shop at a local store called “El Taller”. Their beads are gorgeous!!!

    Rebekah209 says:

My favorite bead store is Bead Dreams on Pacific Ave. in Stockton, Ca.  It has a little bit of everything and a whole lot of seed beads in a wide variety of colors, sizes, and shapes.  I attend conferences out of town regularly and every time I do I map out the bead stores in a reasonable vicinity. I’ve been to dozens of beads stores and none can really compare to Bead Dreams.  The seed beads selection (as I already mentioned) is better than I’ve ever seen, there are pearls, gems, vintage beads, findings and crystals, oh my the crystals. I took my first class there about 5 or 6 years ago and haven’t stopped beading since.  Deborah and Enola are fabulous!

    Jennifer Ehrichs says:

LOVE Diane Fitzgerald!  Unfortunately I don’t really have any good local stores, but I go to Bead Monkey in the Twin Cities whenever I visit my mom :)

    Dawn says:

Sadly, the best local suppliers for beads here are the chains (you all know their names). But if I want to drive an hour, Mats Beads in Vestal NY is really cool.

    Wlstarn says:

There’s only one bead store here: A Bead Boutique.  I like the HoleBead Shop online.

    Scotdog says:

Wow, I saw someone walk around at Bead Daze (GLBG) just this past week with this new book & wanted to grab it, but I’m too polite for that.  LOL!  Would love to win it.

My favorite store right now is 1 Stop Bead Shop in Dublin Ohio.  I teach there & the class room is so well lite with a big glass window so when I need to get my students motivated, all they gotta do is look out & watch everyone shopping & laughing & having fun.

    Dori Benner says:

hi My favorite bead store is Brazos collection in Salado, Texas!! awesome beads at wholesale prices !! I can never leave there without picking up something new and interesting, they have a little of everything and i love the porcelain, turquiose, and crystals !!

    Fabfiber says:

My most favorite bead store isn’t local, but I visit it every chance I get.  It’s The Turquoise Coyote in Panchatoula LA.  This store has it all and the best prices ever.  If I am looking for seed beads though I wait for the Bead and button and get them from Out on a Whim.

A number of local bead stores have gone out of business but my favorite in driving distance is Bead Creative in Hampton, NH. Cathy Remington has a great selection of seed beads and literally some of everything you could need or want. She’s a bundle of energy and has a heart of gold and a fabulous sense of color and design.

My favorite place to buy beads is at Gem Faire trade shows. The selection is eclectic and seemingly infinite, and you can’t beat the prices anywhere.

    Wrpnwft says:

My favorite bead store is Mana Beads, in Nevada City, CA. It is located in the historic district, and is run by a wonderful couple.  I look forward to shopping there when I visit my parents in Grass Valley.

My ‘local’ bead store is about 1.5 hours away–Cindy’s Crafts in Johnson City, TN so I don’t get there too often–maybe 3-4 times a year.  But, I can contact Cindy via email or phone and she pops what I need in the mail and I usually get it in about 2 days.  You can even pick out a project in a magazine and she’ll pull the beads for you in the colors you want–great customer relations.  But, you know you just have to feel the beads every so often so off to Cindy’s I’ll go.
Another favorite store is Birdsong Beads in Andrews, NC where our beading group goes whenever we have our retreats in Robbinsville, NC–it’s a very well stocked store and they have a wonderful collection of projects worked up in different colorways from projects in recent magazines–you just pick the project and pull the beads!!  Then back up the mountain and we work on them.

    Patrick Duggan says:

Having been a relatively new beader I discovered Dianne’s book Shaped beadwork and began to truly improve my bead weaving skills. Living in Australia we don’t get as wide a range of choice as in Fire Mountain Gems or Whimbeads so I import a lot of my needs from these two stores.

My favorite depends upon my needs:  Locally – it would be The Powderhorn Trading Co.  Rings & Things is also one as Spokane is on my husband’s marketing schedule; I am always excited to see what is new in their showroom.  Many times I will get my supplies the next day when I order from them.  And of course, Diane is one of my favorite authors when it comes to beadwork.

Diane’s designs are wonderful. I would love to win these books!

I don’t have a favorite bead store, in particular. What I like is discovering beads and jewelry-making pieces in odd places. Two of my favorite places to look are craft fairs and antique malls. I like finding older jewelry and reusing it. Sometimes what an old beaded necklace needs is a little love and a few updated pieces added in!

    TybeeHouseCat says:

Awwww, you aren’t giving Diane away? LOL I love her designs! She was in our area last year for classes and I was so impressed! I’ve been wanting to buy her books but haven’t had the extra cash to do so. This would be an awesome win!!!!

    Mary says:

    smARTaleck studio says:

Having admired Diane’s work since the first time I saw it – I too would LOVE to win her book. A bead store I’ve been going to in Atlanta since BEFORE I moved here 9 years ago is Beadazzles.  The friendly customer service and design knowledge is consistent and welcoming.  I also buy beads at local bead shows. I  don’t often order beads online.  I like to see and touch the beads.

    Adele Rogers Recklies says:

I love Diane’s designs and Diane herself.  I guess my favorite bead store would have to be Twisted Sistah run by Leslie Pope.  Not only does Leslie have interesting beads but she is a friendly and enthusiastic beaders always ready to help her customers.  I look forward to seeing her when our paths cross at bead shows.  My other favorite bead store would have to be Beyond Beadery because I spend an awful lot of money there.

    chris says:

    ‘would love to win.
Favorite bead shop?  You can’t beat your local bead store where you can see the actual color, size and texture of the beads, and also pick up something needed in a hurry.  On-line you get great deals and many offer free shipping.  Beadfest in Philly is the best for searching out pieces with so many options, and getting some extra good advice and mini lessons.

    Kassie says:

Hmmm, it’s hard to choose a favorite bead store, but I think Cindy’s Crafts in Johnson City TN probably wins. Her prices are amazing and so is she! I love Diane’s Shaped Beadwork book, and I’m sure the new one is absolutely fabulous!

I live in the middle of nowhere in South Texas.  It is too far to drive to the bead stores so my favorite bead store is Joan Painter’s online shop called Painters Art Gallery.  I love ordering my Delicas from her because not only are her prices low but she gives a discount, too.  She also only charges you whatever the actual shipping cost is.

This sounds like a great book.  I loved the patterns that we were able to preview.

    Dingre says:

I usually buy beads on beadaholique. they offer cheap shipping, they send their items worldwide and they often have discounts. I was thinking about ordering Diane’s “Beaded Fantasies”, but I won’t miss the chance to win this giveaway :)) good luck everyone! :)

    Deborah says:

We are so fortunate to have numerous local bead stores.  As for a favorite it would be a toss up between Bead Boutique in Miami, and Tortoise Treasures Emporium in Boynton Beach FL. Bead Boutique lays out the supplies needed alongside their display creations, which makes shopping so tempting. Their classes are on on one, anything you want.  Tortoise Treasures has free classes and the owner takes notes on products shoppers and students mention while they are there. She is always looking for interesting items for her clients.  Both stores have wonderful people and lovely selections to take home and horde.  ;-)

    Donna says:

I’m an expatriate Aussie living in the ‘muddle’ east, in a lovely peaceful country called Oman.  My favourite bead store is called “Ghafoor” – it’s in a little souk (marketplace) in an area called Al Kwair, only 10 minutes drive from our home, and their range is simply awesome.

As is typical of Arabic & Indian cultures, there’s a great love of everything sparkly and colourful here, so the range is simply over the top.  With hundreds of jars and packets of beads lined up it looks like a crazy candy store.

Best of all, it’s cheap, cheap, cheap – my husband jokes that he only works to pay for my beading habit.  I desperately need Diane’s new book to turn my treasure trove into wearable treasures!

Diane Fitzgerald’s Shaped Beadwork book has been on my “wish list” for months and months. Bead stores? Well, the one I order from the most is Fire Mountain Beads. Can’t beat their prices on most beading items, but what really brings me back to them is the wonderful customer service! There are lots of wonderful local bead shops around here–Greater Portland/Vancouver area. I just haven’t been well enough to get out to explore them all that much. So delivery to my home, keeping me supplied in pretty shiny beads has made Fire Mountain Gems easy and affordable. I do need to give a shout out to Portland Bead Society (PBS)! I joined their membership this past year. What a wonderful, sharing, amazingly talented group of bead artists of all levels! I’ve been making friends through PBS. I’m a happy beader! I would love, love, love to win these books – I love beads (collecting them) and beading (crafting with them) and cannot get enough of them in my life. When I’m working with beads on my crafts, time just doesn’t exist. I am in a world of glorious colours, shapes and textures, and it’s bliss! My favourite bead shops are both in Dublin – some three hours from me but well worth it because both shops are wonderful – one is Beads and Bling and the other is Yellow Brick Road. When I’m in either of those two shops, I’m nearly heartbroken to have to leave it. I know these books will be loved by whoever is lucky enough to win them…I’m hoping it might be me. Thank you for this wonderful giveaway, and thank you Diane for writing and putting together all these wonderful and beautiful beading books. – June S. in Ireland

No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there’s even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you?
