When a book is printed, we receive just a few copies from the very beginning of the printer’s run to ensure everything is rendering correctly.

Sabine Lippert’s Beaded Fantasies: 30 Romantic Jewelry Projects is being printed in Hong Kong. So, those first few books jetted from Hong Kong to Asheville, North Carolina, where Lark HQ is located. Then, I took two of the books and sent them via UPS to Bonn, Germany, where Sabine Lippert lives and beads (perhaps these words are synonyms for you?), so Sabine could sign them. She generously did so and then mailed them via post back to me here in the mountains of western North Carolina.

So, I’m now giving away a signed copy of a very well-traveled book, which is appropriate, because in it Sabine Lippert takes you on an extraordinary beading and design journey. The book showcases 30 beautiful and wearable jewelry designs. Sabine combines seed beads, crystals, and glass pearls to create her signature gorgeous, innovative beading projects. Every piece uses the most popular stitches in beading: right angle weave and peyote. Most of the bracelets, necklaces, earrings, pendants, and chokers here are new, but Sabine has included a few of her favorite classics. An inspirational photo gallery of beadwork from leading designers, including Sabine, rounds out the book.

Sabine Lippert

How can you enter for a chance to win the signed book? Easy: Leave a comment on this blog post by 9 p.m. EST on Thursday, March 15. Any comment counts, but why not tell us your favorite bead color and what you like best about it. The book releases officially in May: ask your local bead store or bookstore to carry it for you, or order an advance copy online. If you win the signed copy, you’ll simply have an extra copy of a wonderful book to gift to a friend!

To get a taste, download a project PDF from the book of the Les Fleurs Necklace, and read my earlier interview with the charismatic Sabine.

One winner will be selected at random and announced on Monday, March 19. Click here for the official rules. Thank you for being a part of the Lark Jewelry & Beading community, and please connect with Lark Jewelry & Beading on Facebook.

Congratulations to Susan Marie Huguenard of Orlando, Florida, winner of this giveaway. We hope you enjoy the book, Susan, and our thanks to everyone who participated — we also hope YOU enjoy this fantastic book from Sabine.

I would love to win a copy of this book!  I’ve drooled over the preview pages at Amazon.  My favorite bead colors are generally blues and greens, but of course I love metals as well!

    Vimaladawn says:

Wow, I LOVE Sabine’s beadwork! I have her book in my shopping cart on amazon and have browsed through it many times…everything in this book is just beautiful and I can’t wait to see it in person!

As for my favorite bead color…wow, that is a hard question considering there are thousands of amazing colors and finishes in seed beads and I love them all. Even colors that I have never liked before are beautiful as seed beads!

But I think my favorite and most used seed bead color is Metallic Dark Bronze…it has an Old World, Romantic look about it but it can also look very Modern and Chic. Basically, Metallic Dark Bronze seed beads can make beadwork look Vintage or Antique as well as Modern or Classic…not all Bronze has to look like its from the Bronze Age!

And Dark Bronze also works beautifully with almost every other color, kind of like your basic Black, but with a more interesting finish…and I love the Matte finish Dark Bronze as well…it offers a velvety finish to the overall look of a piece creating texture and movement!

Metallic Dark Bronze is not as harsh and bright like bright Gold or even Silver can be, but it still offers that beautiful Metallic finish that gives beadwork the look of Precious Metal Jewelry.

Thank you Lark Books for this Master Class Series…I have every one of them so far and am hoping to get every one that you publish in the future! But right now, I really want Sabine’s Beaded Fantasies!

    Liz says:

This book looks wonderful!  I love using gemstones like jasper for the bigger beads and lovely glass seed beads to complement it in earth and jewel tones and silver or gold – that piece on the cover is right up my alley!

    Kathy B says:

Sabine is such an inspiring beadweaving master, and I would be honored to win her book. My all-time favorite bead color is blue because there are so many shades of blue to choose from: navy, royal, turquoise, aqua, ultramarine, cobalt, teal, etc.

    Patricia Williams says:

My favorite color is green — any color green. It just makes me feel calm and cool and  relaxed.  It is such a natural color.  I love the sample Necklace PDF.  Thanks Sabine for that gift.  Best of luck with your book and thanks for the give away.  Please enter me for a chance to win it.

Yes, what a GREAT Giveaway. It’s so hard to choose a favorite color; I have a tendancy to twords the blues and greens. But, I especially like using mixed media in my beadwork and using metal colored beads. I like using different finishes in beads to bring out the depth and dimensions in my work. Sabine’s work is inspiring. My FAVORITE Bead Shop is A2Z Beads in Glendale, Arizona. HAPPY BEADING EVERYONE

    Mardee5173 says:

The book looks amazing.  .My favorite color is turquois

    Dvnmsm says:

Such a generous offer, just for a comment, and the luck of the draw.  Purples and greens are overflowing their containers.  I once read that if you put a purple bead in every project, that it will catch the eye.  I haven’t always done that, but the idea intrigued me.  Thanks for the opportunity to play.

    Anyjsmith says:

Beautiful work!  Would love to be inspired.

    Theonlym says:

    Beautiful designs

I would love to own this book.  I think beaded jewelry is soooooo elegant and the pieces by this author are so beautiful!!

    Dmm987oh says:

What a great contest! I love the vibrant colors of teal, purple and fuschia!

    Debi G says:

I LOVE Sabine’s work. I have bought several of her e-patterns. I am amazed art how easy they are to follow and I love the ‘European’ look of beading. Fuchsias and purples are my absolute favourites.

    Peggy says:

I am in awe of Sabine’s work! I like contrasting colors, and it depends on the mood of the day as to which grouping I gravitate towards. Would love a copy of her book!

    Mary Lorenz says:

I would love to have a copy of Sabine Lippert’s Beaded Fantasies!  The cover project is fantastic!  My favorite bead color at the moment is orange.  Why?  Because it’s a unique color, hard to get just the right shade but so satisfying when you find it!  Thanks!

    Wendy says:

What a great Giveaway.  I’m a coloraholic so it’s hard to pick just one color, but my favorite beads to center piece are 4mm crystals.  I use 14o Japanese seed beads to bead around the crystals.  Since the beads I use are pre size 15o Japanese I guess that classify my work as using vintage beads.

    Njgirl1205 says:

What a wonderful opportunity, oh to narrow down to “a” favorite color is not easy since I LOVE beads!!! perhaps greens, greens with AB are yummy too!

    Carmelina says:

My favorite color to use in jewelry is blue, it can be paired with so many colors. I love Sabine’s patterns they are very easy to understand and everything is so beautiful!

    Rebekah Burr-Siegel says:

I can’t wait for this book to be published and would love a signed copy.  My favorite bead color is a little hard to describe.  It’s a Japanese bead that is pink and gold and brown and then frosted so it looks a little bit like the inside of an abalone shell. I have it every size it comes in and use it all the time. It glows like no other bead I use; I love it.

    Petra Veldkamp says:

Really pity this giveaway is only for residents of The United States. I’m a huge fan of Sabine and I would love to have joined this giveaway.
I pre-ordered this book, so I’ll have it anyway, although a signed copy would have been nicer ;-)

    Terran says:

Ooh, I’ve really been wanting a copy of this! I can’t choose a single color. Green’s always been my favorite color, and I do have more green beads than anything else, but ever since I started beading I’ve become more obsessed with purples and oranges – both colors that I didn’t particularly like before!

I’m a jewelry instructor and it is my goal this year to master bead weaving.  This would help.  Thank so much for such a great offer.  I LOVE blues, greens and pinks.

    Brannonj says:

My favorite bead color is Turquoise because that is the favorite color of my number one critic.

    Pypurz2 says:

I’d love to have a signed copy of this book!  It’s hard to choose a favorite color, but recently I’ve been working with turquoise & lime together.

“Live and bead”?  Sounds rather familiar (as I look around the piles of beading stashes and partially completed projects…including one of her bracelet patterns that I recently bought and just remembered I haven’t finished!  Ugh).  I pre-ordered the book last month, but it would be great to be the envy of our beading society with an advance copy of her book (wink wink), LOL.  Let’s see, favorite bead color – I tend to gravitate to the autumn colors, and love the topazes and crystal magma.

    E Gill says:

This awesome! Beautiful work…thank you for the opportunity to win!!

    LORI says:

I have followed Sabine for several years through her blog; I was introduced to her by Marcia deCoster (not in person). I’ve been looking forward to this book since she first mentioned it and would LOVE a signed copy! My favorite bead color? Hmmm….there are about a thousand of them LOL! The color I use most I guess is what Swarovski would call “Indicolite”; a midrange turquoise/teal. I am a water person, and it just reminds me of the lake, cool breezes and sunshine on the water. :-)

    Tmagnani says:

My favorite bead color is pretty much anything that falls into the rich golden orange glow palette of amber. I find that it plays well with so many other colors and can be dressed up, or made playful depending on what other colors I use with it.

    Susan Jaisle says:

Oh please oh please I would love to have this book :)

    Lmherbert says:

    Tina Sears says:

My favorite gem color is amethyst. I find it soothing and love combining it with reds and blues to make fabulously cohesive pieces. At our recent bead retreat, we had a debate as to how to pronounce Sabine. I don’t believe we ever agreed. Suh-bean or Say-bine. I leaned toward the first.

    Lisa Williams says:

Please can I have a copy?  *winning smile*
Regarding my favourite bead colour, I like anything by Swarovski but I particularly like their jonquil colour as it’s pretty without being garish.  I’m currently working on three rivoli pendant necklaces (two in pastel colours, one in deep green and vitrail – oh, there’s another favourite colour, vitrail!) and one piece of bead embroidery.  I’ve been beading for twelve years, and I’ve just discovered Sabine Lippert and her beautiful work, so I would love this book!  :-)

    Sister says:

my favorite color is…..Rainbow! (just can’t leave any colors out, they would be insulted!)

    Looks lovely!!  : )

      Jeanneleigh says:

I’m drawn to the cool end of the spectrum – blues, purples, greens… I don’t think I could pick just one color as favorite!

    Alicia Hartley says:

I would say that purple, all shades are my favorite color to bead with.  Followed by black and silver, for just a touch of class.  This cover for this book is fantastic!

Best of luck to all entrants, the winner is going to be a very lucky person indeed!

    Wtnisy says:

    Wendyoes says:

Probably my absolutely favorite color is the Toho PFF 559 (aka Golden Pear), especially in the matte finish.  I love all the permanent finish galvanized beads from TOHO.
