My friend’s son was at the office the other day, wearing an armload of Silly Bandz. If you’re a parent, you may already know way to much about this tween trend. I, however, seem to have shown up unfashionably late to this particular party. Silly Bandz (I shutter to type the Z) are simply rubber bands molded into different shapes that pop back into form when taken off the wrist. Simple, cheap, and as hot as Pop Rocks. Turning a blind eye to the damaging landfill issues and potential physical side effects of this fad, I see a new generation of  jewelry enthusiasts—both boys and girls—blossoming. Being a  fan of all things (thingz?) silly, I’m off to the mall to buy a letter-shaped set so I can wear some super secret messages.

These remind me of the slap bracelets of the 80s! I believe we even had “jelly” bracelets to go with our “jelly” shoes. I might have to get some to match my 2010 jelly shoes for adults..Melissa e Campana shoes. http://www.melissaplasticdreams.com/collection/

My son came home with a kangaroo Bandz today – I was wondering where it came from. Thanks for helping me keep up with the kids!

Aha! I could not figure out why all those teenagers were wearing squiggly rubber things around their wristz. Now I knowz.

I told my kids I could get them a giant bag of these for $2. They're all in the shape of rubber bands, though.
