Closet Monsters Giveaway(s)

October 29, 2010, 11:21 am  Posted by needlearts

Some of you might remember Ronny from earlier this week, when he managed to get us all in trouble. But the truth is, he’s one of the most fun monsters to hang out with. He likes having friends around, going out for a drink, and just relaxing. He’s good looking too! How do you think he managed to land the cover of Closet Monsters?

And while anyone can make their own Ronny clone with the instructions in the book, we have the original Ronny–handmade by John Murphy–right here at our side, ready to give away. To enter for a chance to win, leave a comment on this post by 9 p.m. EST on November 5. Any post will do, but we’d love to know: What would you and Ronny do first if you won? What’s your favorite expensive coffee drink and where do you get it? Or which Closet Monster is your favorite? (Don’t worry; Ronny won’t read the comments.) One winner will be selected at random and announced on November 8. Click here for the official rules. PIXIDEN IS THE WINNER!

But wait, there’s more! Everyone’s a winner this Friday because we’ve also got a monter-themed desktop wallpaper. John was nice enough to sketch this up last week and we think it has the power to make your screen both ready for fall and ready for fun at the same time. The links are below for the most common desktop sizes.

Enjoy! And we can’t wait to read the comments…

To download the desktop wallpaper, right click or control click on the size you want below and download the link:

I want a Ronny monster because he would live in the newly cleaned closet! In the new playroom! Which we are definitely going to finish at some point before I have my second child! Or maybe after. 8 weeks is really soon.

    Magi Calhoun says:

My seven year old just loves the closet monsters and he wants one for his closet! Happy Halloween:)

    Teri C says:

Me and Ronny would totally go to Starbucks and grab a mocha while we ate one of their surprising delicious cinnamon rolls. Then we would find us a hot novel to read in the Barnes and Noble next door, and he would take me to dinner. What a gentleman that Ronny is he would open the door for me even though his bootless feet might get wet since it is raining. Maybe he would stay up late and fold laundry with me?

    Katie says:

We would first go give my daughter a sloppy, wet kiss…then we would chase the cat aroud the house!

    Sharlyngp says:

You asked about my favorite expensive coffee drink…Well, I just got back from Venice, Italy on Tuesday and there we enjoyed an Italian cappuccino every morning. It was 2.20 euros if we sat at a table, 1.50 euros if we stood at the bar. Regardless, taking into account the travel time, etc., I think those are my favorite coffee drinks.

    Emcstitches says:

Ronny would hang out in my cubicle at work to remind me not to take everything so seriously as I sip my hot chocolate. I’m a mutant and don’t like the taste of anything with coffee in it.

    MarciaW. says:

Keep coming back to Ronny as my favorite closet monster. I think that I will take him for a visit to my grandnieces homes and hopefully he will return home with me! Thank you for this giveaway. Making my own closet monsters would be such fun. alt email mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

    Etsy Land says:

If Ronny came to live with me, the first thing I’d do is whip up a batch of Paula Deen’s delicious Monster Cookies and then we’d kick back in a recliner chair, eat cookies and watch Monsters Inc. together to celebrate the occasion

    justval says:

Oh my favorite drink a decaff pumpkin latte. Ronnie and I could kick back drinking our decaff pumpkin latte ( I know Ronnie gets a little wild on caffeine) and stay up all night watching old horror movies staring Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. He would have to hold my hand for I am a scaredy cat. In the morning we would make chocolate chip waffles my favorite and rake a huge pile of leaves for Ronnie to jump and hide in. What a wonderful weekend!

Head over to my nephews and get him to join in the fun!

    Bsyb100 says:

I’m not a coffee drinker but Ronny could join me for some hot apple cider at Starbucks! My favorite hot drink during the fall. Love the fall and love ronny!!

    Margie says:

Ronny and I will be bed pals. I spend most of my day in bed since I became sick in 2008. It would be fun to have a new friend to share my time with.

    Susan Spiers says:

I would perch Ronny on my rear view mirror & take a drive in the country to show him the sights of his new home! Might even stop by my sister-in-laws for a cup of coffee!

    kama says:

My little guys would love this! My first son is 2 and my 2nd son is about to turn 10 months old!! We would definitely take Ronny to the park (since it’s so warm here in Texas). Then we’d probably take him to McDonalds because we seem to like to go there to eat and play at their playground too. I think Ronny would make a lot of new little friends that day. :)

    Jennifer says:

I think me and Ronnie would snuggle up with DD and DS and read a few books together :-)

    Penny says:

I have a spot in my classroom just for Ronnie. He can take notes from some of my kids!!

    MadCat Marion says:

Ronnie and I’d head out for a mocha to celebrate!

    Colleen says:

If I win Ronnie and I are going for some Caribou high carmel rise w/ an extra shot of expresso!

    chris says:

I would love Ronnie to ride shotgun with me as I commute to classes!

    cosima says:

Ronny and I would share some leftover buttered Rum from our Halloween party last night. Hope Ronny can handle his liquor!

    Nicholas says:

My name is Nicholas and I am 11. I have made sock creatures from the author’s other book, Stupid Sock Monsters. I would take Ronny to my Humanities class where he could help me study for my lessons on Australopithecus — the first upright human being. Then, I’d take him and my mum for lattes!

    Robin D says:

I think I would take Ronny for a quad shot latte at my local coffee shop and then introduce him to my niece Ronnie!

These are the cutest things ever! Isn’t it weird that Sock Monkeys scare me, but I think these are adorable? Oh, and I make my coffee at home and carry it in a thermos, as I do not have a lot of disposable income.

    turtle says:

so fun and cute! Hmmm , ronnie would arrive just in time to head up to vancouver island to hang a few days, visit some goats…then after turkey day head back to college dorm life with daughter! One thing that scares me? Mini vans….so not joking here! The whole concept of them….

    Marsy says:

Ronny would definitely join some of the colorful characters that I keep on my desk at work. Given the plain white walls of my office, all sense of fun are needed here! I might even be able to arrange a cupcake welcome party for Ronny with the help of some of my co-workers!

    Badassclarissa says:

i make my own monsters. but they’ve been getting sorta lazy, not scaring away my nightmares at all. i bet ronny would whip them into shape. the first thing ronny and i would do together is snuggle and sleep. i may be an adult, but i haven’t outgrown snuggling!

    Tina Thomas says:

If I won one, I’d keep it on my classroom desk! LOL

    Tina Thomas says:

I’d put it on my classrooom desk if I won one! It would be a great conversaion piece!

    Melindasr5 says:

I’d give this to my nephew for Christmas. And then make some friends.

    Tabitha says:

Coffee. Hmmmm. I’m a boring drip drinker. Monsters. Love ‘em all. I’d soooo love to win this, they are just adorable. Maybe if I win I’ll celebrate with a Venti Caramal Machiato White Chocolate w/2 extra shots coffe?! That’ll cost a fortune!

I would think about gifting him to one of the very few children in my life, but then I would decide that none of them were cool enough, and keep for myself. And then i would probably buy the book and construct six more Ronnys, so original Ronny would never be lonely, and people would be afraid to be left alone in my bedroom.

    Pixiden says:

Ronny and I would make an iced latte at home and head to my workshop to make some ‘friends’. What a personable monster!

    Kristy says:

I would teach Ronny how to cross stitch and we would stitch and drink mochas into the wee hours.

Ronny gets to come out of the closet. He looks a lot like my inner critic, so I’d introduce them. Then they can have a nice chai latte and shortbread while I go to the studio and get some work done.

    Mommapudding says:

As I’m a Brit and November 5th happens to be Guy Fawkes night, we’d have to watch some fireworks, and stoke a bonfire together, eat some parkin and bonfire toffee (you might want to look those up and make some).

    Solstice1 says:

When we win we are going to go to our fave coffee joint, Bigby and get Soy Lattes. Then we are going to the library to check out more books and cd’s. Yahoo! Then to a photo shoot to have photos for Facebook.

I love the possibilities my closet holds for toys, especially for those sweaters that are stretched or pilled (apologies to Ronny–he’d be adorable in any fabric, really!).

I think Ronny would hang out with my 2 year old son, probably while painting or using play dough. Dogs are good at that too, right?

    Pdwy33 says:

My grandson would love him as his new BFF

    Patti says:

what an fun looking book! I would love to get my hands on
one and start my collection of “monsters”.

It’s appropriate time to make some plans for the future and it is time to be happy. I’ve read this post and if I could I desire to suggest you few interesting things or tips. Maybe you could write next articles referring to this article. I desire to read even more things about it!
