Creative Connection Book Giveaway

September 17, 2010, 14:45 pm  Posted by needlearts

Those of us around the office who weren’t lucky enough to travel to Creative Connection have enjoyed all the updates from our authors throughout the week. From interviews to Twitter dispatches, it’s almost like we were there. To keep the Creative Connection fun going, we have a special book giveaway for you!

This bundle includes a bunch of books from Lark authors who attended Creative Connection: Fabric Remix by Sandy Stone, Sew Tina by Tina Givens, Craft Corps by Vickie Howell, Bow Wow WOW by Cathie Filian, and French-Inspired Jewelry by Kaari Meng.

As you can see, it includes a customized Creative Connection notebook too!

These books would be a great addition to any crafty library—they’d also make a wonderful gift. To be entered for a chance to win the bundle, leave a comment on this post by 9 p.m. EST on Friday, September 24.

Any post counts, but we’d love to hear about anything related to the Creative Connection: Do you have a story from your trip? Did you have to miss it? Who would you have wanted to meet? Have you been to a similar event? Why do you think it’s important to connect to other creative professionals?

One winner will be selected at random and announced on Tuesday, September 28. Click here for the official rules, and good luck! Jeanne Winters is the winner!

I wish it was in the budget for me to attend this year, but I am going to start pinching my pennies so I can be first in line their next year! I think creative minds meeting are great for connecting but the appreciation for handmade needs a force behind it and events like these make the handmade nation that much stronger.

    Kristi says:

I wish I could have gone this year, fingers crossed for next year! Tho I would love to add these books to my library!

    Kristine says:

I was able to attend the event today. It was all I had hoped for – the panel of women entrepreneurs were inspiring and funny and humble, etc etc. Met some wonderful sellers at the handmade market too. Next time I am staying for the full 3 days — sorry I have to miss so much!

    Momfong says:

What a fun group of books. Thanks for hosting the drawing.

    Mad_knitress says:

As a craft enthusiast, I would be thrilled to add these books to my library! Yay!

    Kristy says:

Unfortunatly being so far away (in Australia) means I couldn’t go, but the books could be like bringing some to me!

    Babyalyssa0875 says:

    ME ME ME ME ME!!!!!
I SOOOOO want to win this!!!!!!!

    Gemcats says:

Wow what an awesome giveaway!!! I would LOVE to be able to go to events like that! Unfortunately my lack of funds and my being in a wheelchair makes traveling a bit difficult. But I try to keep up on things from my computer (don’t know what I would do without it). Thank you for the chance at such a great gift! Good luck everyone!

    edie says:

I would have loved to have gone – but I spent some time in my studio and pretended I was surrounded by creative energy ;-)

    Caryn says:

This is something I would have loved to attended, and I’m hoping with some planning ahead I can make the next one! I’ve enjoyed reading about it online as much as I can though, just reading about it and seeing the pics inspires me! I’d be thrilled to win these books, especially the Fabric Remix… I entered to win in the other giveaway but didn’t win and haven’t purchased it yet! But if I don’t win this time, I’ll be buying it for myself for Christmas :) The other books look fabulous as well, as I truly enjoy having a nice crafty library to go to for inspiration from time to time. Thank you!

    Robin says:

Would love to attend but live in Canada. I do attend the Creativ Festival that they hold here usually twice a year. I love allllll the books you have up for prizes! Hope i win them!!!!!!!!

    Michele says:

I love craft books! Love the delicious photos, love the ideas they inspire, love to try novel things that I wouldn’t normally have tried, love the new twists, everything! the important thing about connecting with other creative professionals is that they are a source of support, they know about the creative process. they have experiences you don’t have, and know stuff you do not. they are your community and you can help one another.

    Janel says:

I’m always looking for fun craft books to share with my daughter. This looks like a great collection that both of us would love!

    Shaiha says:

I wasn’t able to attend as we just moved into our new home. I would love to love those books though. Kinda give me a taste of what I missed

    Sharlyngp says:

I just started reading this and I don’t know about Creative Connection. However, I can comment on why it’s important to connect to other creative professionals….you get inspired, you learn you network, you find similarities and differences in how you approach your work and your business. You share problems and find solutions. It’s essential to staying fresh and inspired!

    Jenyjenny says:

I wasn’t familiar with the Creative Connection, but will keep up with it now!

    Thecamellia says:

We had 1 day in Minneapolis to attend the Junk Bonanza and the Handmade Market. I loved both events, and wished that they would have been both at Canterbury Park. Creative Connection inspired me to be creative, and after I left the event, I vowed to to make TIME in my schedule to CREATE. I found the lighting to be somewhat inadequate, and the room to be hot. Would have liked to be able to attend Smart Bar events individually. A great, Inspiring show!

The Lark blog is the first I’ve heard of Creative Connection – it sounds like a great event! Since I am a self-representing artist (aka. starving!!) money will probably keep me away from this wonderful convergence but I can get a “fix” vicariously through your wonderful site. Would love, love, LOVE to win these books!!!

    Dhidey says:

I have never been to TCCE, but have been faithfully following a few twitterers and been intrigued by what is going on there. I am a ‘spare time’ crafter, having dabbled in photography, painting, needle crafts, sewing and paper crafts.

    Emily says:

What a great event! Events like Creative Connection are always important for finding new inspiration from other crafters!

    Jeanne says:

I would have LOVED!!!!!!!! to shop the handmade market!! Bet my visa would have melted! :-)

      Thom O'Hearn says:

Jeanne, you are the winner! We’re writing you now so you can claim your prize…congratulations!

    Christina says:

I really like to read crafty books.

    justval says:

A son in med grad school and a daughter soon to be grad school next year, our funds are very limited BUT that does not mean the desire to go has gone but just on simmering for the moment. I can experience the event thru you and I thank you tremendously. This book collection is amazing and I would love to win, who knows!

    Sparklein says:

I have just recently discovered this site and I LOVE it! The book giveaway is just the frosting on the cupcake!

    Suzijarboe says:

It’s such a shame we all can’t just pack a small bag and just go to what ever event we wanted to. Now we have to reli on others opinions on the event we missed. Thank you for making it available in this manner.

This is a great site & I can’t wait to see some of the free projects here. I’d love to meet crafty people in my neck of the woods…not sure where to start. Thanks for hosting.

    bridget&lucy says:

I LOVED the Creative Connection. I would’ve stayed for days if they would’ve continued classes and panels. The inspirational women and amazing resources (like Lark!) that were all so willing to share their knowledge and experiences was priceless!! I’m still on a total high from the whole event!

    Susan Spiers says:

I would have loved to have gone, Just a bit too far away for me! Crafting here is very limited, a bead show now & then, but I would luv to have met all the talented people that were there!

I really wish I could have gone and seen Vickie Howell and taken the Betz White class. Maybe next year! I love hearing what others think about using my craftiness for something besides just a hobby.

It was amazing! So lucky to have it in MN so I did not have to travel. I left feeling inspired and just awestruck and starstruck at all of the amazing women in the world. My favorite part was having dinner with one of your winners of your scholarships – Jennie! She is lovely and so deserving.

OH! I was supposed to go, but then my husband’s work travel schedule took precedence! (I have 2 young children at home.) But winning these books would put a little balm on my broken heart!! Thanks, -Jenny

    Katie Trott says:

Looks like some great books! Lark you always are so generous with your giveaways!! Count me in :)

    marissamakes says:

I didn’t attend Creative Connection, but lived vicariously through Laurie Turk’s tweets. In addition to the awesome advice she shared, I learned of a whole new group of crafters to follow, including Lark Crafts! I’d love to attend next year’s conference and be inspired/encouraged/recharged by the creative energy… maybe take a class with Betz White or Kaari Meng (my favorites!).

Thanks for such a generous giveaway! I’d be thrilled to add any of these titles to my craft room library! :o)

    Kittykatt says:

I am just beginnign my adventure into the crafting world! I hope someday to make it to Creative Connection! And this is a very generous giveaway! It’s all very exciting!!

    Stacy says:

I think it’s really important for crafters to network to share ideas and encourage crafting! This is a great collection of books and I’d love to win it.

    Meadowlarkgurl says:

I didn’t attend, but would have been in tears anyway, as a cast is impeding every attempt to knit, crochet, sew, bead and embroider. Not much help for cooking or canning either. But it doesn’t get in the way of reading and actually works as a pretty good “page flattener”.

    I could use a pickup. :)

    Cami says:

I am following the tweets but I could not make it this year. Thanks for the giveaway opportunity. :)

    Nicoloe says:

What a great collection of crafty books. This is the first time I’ve visited this site, lots of good information. Thanks for that chance at a great giveaway!!

I couldn’t make it to MN but will be going to World Maker Faire at the NY Hall of Science in Flushing Meadow Park this coming weekend. Lots of great crafters & demos alongside tesla coils and cupcake cars, so come on over. http://www.makerfaire.com

See this would be a great thing for me to win…cause then if anyone asked why I was crocheting, making designer jeans, I would just say, “Because I am a winner!!!”…

    Bethany says:

What a wonderful collection of books! Thanks so much for the giveaway drawing! I wasn’t able to attend the event, as it was just too far away for traveling…but I so wish it (or another like it!) was closer the Pacific NW…I’d be there in a heartbeat! :)

I was fortunate to attend the event as a volunteer. I took the class by Jennifer Murphy. Her mom was there. It was incredible. I also met the incredible to meet and take a class with Wendy Addision. Everyone was so nice. Nancy Soriano. She was gracious enough to introduce herself to me and thanked my for volunteering. I also met Ree Drummond (The Pioneer Woman Cooks. Ree actually asked me about myself and where I was from. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the event.

    Sarah Madrigal says:

That is so awesome to have an event like this!! I live in Central California and would LOVE to take my 9 year old daughter on a “Creative Connection Trip.” We are just now sewing and making jewelry. I have always loved to make crafts and sew with my mother. My love is Crafts!! I am very excited to learn about this event.
It would be very important and exciting for my daughter to meet professionals who write books about what they professionally do day-to-day. We both would have been excited to meet with the crafts author and other professionals to learn new creative ideas to use next time we start a project.

What a great collection of books — if I could just win them, they’d certainly help tide me over until the second annual Creative Connection hits!

Okay. I can’t believe it. All of the books are on my wish list in Amazon.com. How’d that happen? I just wish our Tampa Bay area could have a Creative Connection of some kind. I think it would be great to have an opportunity to me like-minded folk in the area. PS: I really love everything from the French Genereal.

Between not knowing about this event and not having the finances to go, I had to miss out. If circumstances had been different this even would have done wonders to shake off the creative funk I’ve been in. Being surrounded by people who have the same DIY perspective does wonders curtailing that negative voice in your head.
