We had so much fun with the first doodle stitch-a-long that we’ve asked Aimee Ray to host another one to coincide with our bird love blogiversary! So without further ado….
Hey guys, This is Aimee Ray, and I’m bringing you another Doodle Stitch Along! Each Friday we’ll be sharing a fun, new project and free embroidery motifs from my book, Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection.
This time, our project is a cute, little shop apron! It’s the perfect thing to wear if you’re working a craft show, or while crafting, to keep supplies or tools right at your fingertips. It’s easy to sew and will, of course, be embellished with free embroidery patterns we’ll give you right here, every Friday.
Here’s my version of the motif #1, a sweet little tree motif! You can download the tree motif here.
For this simple apron, you’ll need two pieces of fabric (I’m using regular quilter’s cotton) 18 inches wide by 10 inches long. You’ll also need a piece of 1-inch-wide grosgrain ribbon, 72 inches long. We’ll be stitching up 4 embroidery patterns, so measure spaces for them evenly along the top of one piece of fabric, about 2 inches from the top:
The apron will look something like this when finished, with a stitched motif on each pocket:
I’ll give you complete instructions on how to put it together on the last week of our Stitch Along.
Of course, if you want to opt out of the apron, you can stitch up the patterns however or on whatever you like. Be sure to come join us on flickr and add your photos to our Doodle Stitch Along group! While you’re there, check out the great stuff people made at our last Stitch Along.
Thanks for joining us!
