With their bold colors, modern lines, and strong geometric shapes, the quilts of Gee’s Bend are a rich source of inspiration for modern quilters, stitchers, and artists of all kinds, especially those with a penchant for improvisation. This story of these fascinating quilts is truly inspiring; for a bit of background on the quilts, the quiltmakers, and the community itself, visit The Quilts of Gee’s Bend site.

Here’s a handful of Gee’s Bend-inspired pieces from flickr, but there are many, many more, including a whole group devoted to the subject.

Is it possible these quilts will come to La Conner, Washington's Quilt Museum for a showing. It would allow people in the NW to see them. With our weather we need to see these cheery quilts!

You know, I'm not sure what the current exhibition schedule is. There is some info on their site about past shows (http://www.quiltsofgeesbend.com/news/index.shtml), but nothing upcoming. I would love to see the Gee's Bend quilts in person. Everyone I know who has has been totally blown away!
