Giveaway: Batty Fleece Hat for Halloween

October 19, 2012, 15:24 pm  Posted by needlearts

Have you taken a peak inside Fleece Hat Friends? It’s one of our most beginner-friendly sewing books and it’s perfect for Halloween and beyond. In addition to the bat above, there’s also a Spinning Spider (look to the right!). Wouldn’t that go nicely with fake cobwebs?

Or, if you don’t have time to sew something up for Halloween, think further ahead. Is your family adopting a new pet this holiday season? Why not make a hat to go with the occasion (a cat, dog, bunny, and fish are all patterns in this book).

And since the projects can be made to fit almost any size head, even the adults can get in on the fun! Ok, back to the prize at hand…

We’re giving away the original Feeling Batty hat from the book made by the author herself! The lucky winner also gets a copy of the book.

To enter for a chance to win the Bat fleece hat and a copy of Fleece Hat Friends, simply leave a comment (any comment is fine, but we’d love to hear the best idea for a Halloween costume you’ve seen this year) on this post by 9 p.m. EDT on Friday, October 26th. One winner will be selected at random from among all eligible entries and announced by Monday, October 29th. Click here for the official rules. Julia is the winner…congratulations!

Good luck and happy sewing!

OMGoodness! This could not be any cuter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m sure I won’t have much luck being possible poster #1, but thanks for the chance to win anyway!

These hats are adorable!! My favorite costume idea so far has been a home-made lego from a cardboard box!!

I would love to win this book! I can just imagine my grandsons wearing these adorable hats.

What darling hats! This book looks awesome! I have not seen too many halloween costumes yet. My grandson is going to be a “lil monster” from the movie. Another cute costume is Thomas the Tank. My girlfriend made it for her grandson and it’s so darling.

Thank you for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

What a cute book. I hadn’t seen it until now but can surely use it with three Grandchildren.
My youngest Granddaughter is living with us right now along with her parents so if I won she would get this adorable hat. I would love to have this book. Thank you.
The best outfit I have seen this year so far is on the Make It Love It blog where she’s ceated the most adorable outfits for her three children based on the Nursery Rhyme Red Riding Hood. She’s created the wolf, Red Riding Hood, and her youngest little girl is the most adorable Granny you’ve ever seen. She even posted the most adorable slideshow/video in this post showing them http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2012/10/the-whole-red-riding-hood-crew.html

What a fun book cover! The best costume is “the unknown comic” with a paper bag on it’s head

    Beth T. says:

I saw a costume for a child in a wheelchair: a boat made out of a large cardboard box, that enclosed the wheelchair itself and made it appear that the child was floating–captaining!–the boat.

    Krista says:

Similar to Beth T.’s costume, I saw an ice cream truck costume for a wheelchair-bound child. The child was the ice cream “man,” and the truck surrounded the child. So cute!

I made my dog his very own captain america costume, complete with a hand made shield, then a friend made him a captain american theme collar and I made myself a jumper with the same fabric. I wanted to do a superhero theme but no store bought stuff, just one of a kind.

So far this year, the best costume I’ve seen was part of a Zombie Pub Crawl. A woman had great zombie makeup but the best bit was that she had on a pink 60s stewardess suit with one of those little hats they wore and the back of the suit jacket and white blouse underneath were shredded! It was fabulous!

The best idea we have ever had was last year. My son, who was 5 at the time, had four imaginary super hero friends. Together we designed costumes and our entire family dressed as Team Ruffman. My son was Ruffman, leader of the team, my daughter (1) was Super Baby, I was Rainor, and my husband was Shield Man. My mother decided to join in the fun so my son came up with another super hero for her to wear too. She was Super Sunny!

I saw an idea for a family of Legos made with recycled boxes.

I haven’t seen any costumes this year, except for some cute purple/black witch outfits modeled by the daughters of a friend. However, I must say that I love the nature-themed ones, especially owls. Love the felt owl hat & the bat hat!! I think it’s important to connect kids with nature,

My son is going to be a sailor this year, modeled off of the sailors from “Curious George” by H. A. Rey… the important pieces being a white beret-type hat with a red pom-pom and a telescope! I think the dinosaur hat and bag are also in the works for him for Christmas… his eyes got really wide when he saw the picture on the blog!

My 3 year old son is very into telling us who each person in our family is going to be for halloween, so when i broke my ankle in early September and am now in a walking boot (completely taking away from his idea that i was going to be daphnie from scooby doo), he has now told me that i HAVE to be a bootleg pirate. I went and bought the costume of a pirate last weekend, so i’m excited to see his face when he sees each person dressed exactly how they wanted them to be :)

    Patsy Pirnat says:

I would love to win this to make for my grandson.

What adorable hats!!! I think that the best costume I have seen this year is a family of three, actually. The mom and dad were dressed as the monsters, and the little boy was the kid from Where the Wild Things Are

    Sarah De Visser says:

Thanks for the giveaway — this book looks like a lot of fun!

    Jolene Lew says:

Wow. I really really love this and would love to get hold of it (:

    Sarah H says:

Best halloween costume idea I have seen this year is Beetlejuice. I love Beetle juice!

    VaL Gandara says:

A sheeple costume for the masses! The hat could have that oh so special Serta type sheep face with big eyes. Halloween is usually cold, so the fleece would be warm to wear and fuzzy like sheep and lightweight. Somebody else could go as Little Bo Peep if they wanted to but i would rather be the warm sheep.

You completed a few good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

Wow that was unusual. I just wrote an really long comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t show up. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Regardless, just wanted to say fantastic blog!

certainly like your web site but you have to take a look at the spelling on quite a few of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I in finding it very troublesome to tell the reality however I’ll certainly come again again.
