It’s hard to believe but true: August is upon us. While we at Lark are still dedicated to getting the most of what remains of summer, we’re definitely starting to look toward fall, which is, incidentally, a lovely time to be in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The start of fall also signals the release of our next season of books. From upcycled decor to holiday cuteness, we’ve got an absolutely terrific batch of sewing titles! Here are some sneak peeks to whet your crafting whistle:
Love repurposing fabric, searching thrift stores, and bringing handmade goodness into your whole home? Fabric Remix (due out in September) may be for you. The author, Sandy Stone, shows you how to turn old ties into a sturdy chair back, vintage scarves into luxurious pillows, and a trampoline into a chic window treatment… with some basic upholstery projects thrown into the mix. Sandy’s style and perspective is both refreshing and new, but with a nod to luscious vintage fabrics and the creative process of making something old new again. (Be sure to check back later this month for an author interview and some free projects!)
Tis the season to make crafts, indeed! Handmade decorations and ornaments are the perfect way to welcome the season… and Fa La La La Felt (due out in August) can help! With over 45 designs for felt ornaments, garlands, and stockings – ranging from traditional holiday themes like trees and gingerbread houses to a few new icons (hello holiday hedgehog!) – you’re sure to enjoy decking your halls this year.
If the advent of fall has you already missing spring flowers, bring some blossoms into your quilt creations with 45 Quilt Blocks: Flowers (due out in September). The fresh flower motifs for quilt blocks are offered in a variety of sizes and paired with clear how-to illustrations to guide you.
