I’m once again inspired by fashion for today’s post, prompted by the latest newsletter I received from clothing and Vogue Pattern designer Marcy Tilton.
Marcy and her equally talented sister, Katherine (who also designs patterns for Vogue) spent the past weekend at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo, the country’s biggest consumer sewing show, in Puyallup, Washington. The show is an extravaganza for seamstresses, with workshops, fashion shows, demonstrations, and booths overflowing with fabric, notions, gadgets, and gizmos. Marcy and fellow sewing superstar and Vogue designer Sandra Betzina host a fashion show each year based on their designs, and I have two pieces of fabric from my stash that would be perfect for a couple of Marcy’s designs that were in the show.
The first looks pairs a zippered tunic with the too-fun pants; this black-and-white stripe is too perfect for the pants. The second piece I loved is this stretchy tunic, which I can make with the purple knit. I was so inspired that I ordered the patterns right away, as a matter of fact.
Visit Vogue Patterns to search for all of Marcy and Sandra’s patterns. I speak from experience when I say their show is great fun, too. Marcy shares all of her looks from the fashion show (including the two below) here.
