The Great Closet Monster Escape

A surprised construction worker and Ulee spent the morning together.

After seeing pictures from the zombie invasion last week, you might think some weird things have been going on at Lark headquarters in honor of Halloween–and you’d be right. But the weirdest thing happened weeks ago, and it wasn’t even something we planned.

It was Thursday morning when Meagan went into our storage room and noticed that some of the stuffed creatures from Closet Monsters were missing. We looked everywhere, emailed everyone, and left work that day mystified as to where they might have gone.

The next day, we received a call from a construction crew who came across Ulee Bingham trying to operate one of the machines. We told them to distract him and keep him there long enough for us to get down there and pick him up. The crew jumped in the car and headed down highway 240.

We found Ulee happily riding one of the machines–no surprise considering he represents property developers from another planet–and making the driver somewhat uncomfortable. We thanked the driver for his hard work and told Ulee we’d take him anywhere he wanted…but not until after he helped us track down his friends.

He said that was fine with him; he wanted a beer but he’d go anywhere except for back into storage. Ulee then said he heard that Ronny and Julian had hitched a ride down Tunnel Road to the local Barnes & Noble. We strapped him in and headed off to our next stop.

When we got there we quickly spotted Julian catching up on the latest gossip like the domestic maven he is. We spent some time in the cafe, pretending to read and secretly scouting for Ronny. After about half an hour we spotted him fawning over some of the new cases for the Nook. Julian went to pick out his favorite case, which then became Ronny’s favorite case, and then security had to escort us from the store.

Julian checks out what he missed in the closet.

Ronny and Julian get us kicked out of Barnes & Noble.

After that we made a B-line for the Riverarts district. Ronny and Julian said they heard everyone else that escaped was going to hang out there and then meet up later at the Wedge brewery. Not wanting anyone to get into trouble, we drove as fast as we could down Clingman. Luckily, we found the gang just as they started trespassing. Julian and Ulee redeemed themselves and talked the group down with promises of a free round. Making good on our half of the bargain, and rewarding ourselves for the day of hard work, we took the whole gang over to get a drink.

Just a small amount of mischief.

Ulee and Julian enjoy a much-deserved IPA.

Stay tuned this week for more Closet Monsters fun. We’ll have an interview on Wednesday and goodies to give away Friday–including one of the actual monsters from the book handmade by John himself!

one of the best posts ever.

it’s almost as much fun imagining the photo adventures (and likely spectators) as it is to read about the monster mischief.

This actually answered my downside, thanks!

I do agree with all the ideas you’ve presented in your post. They are very convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very short for starters. Could you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.

Greetings from California! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to browse your website on my iphone during lunch break. I love the info you present here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m shocked at how quick your blog loaded on my phone .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyways, good blog!

of course like your web site but you have to check the spelling on several of your posts. A number of them are rife with spelling issues and I to find it very troublesome to inform the truth nevertheless I will definitely come again again.
