The Make-It-For-Myself Giveaway
December 28, 2010, 11:00 am Posted by needleartsJoy to the world—Christmas is over! All the Larkettes have the luxury of a week off, and I plan to drink lots of coffee every morning and indulge in making something just for me. If you’re planning to do the same, enter our Make-It-For-Myself giveaway. The six prize packages are super cool—they’re filled with a random assortment of vintage needlearts paraphernalia—crochet hooks, knitting needles, and assorted gadgets. We’re grateful to the generosity of Shirley Pope, the (almost) mother-in-law of one of our Pixiq colleagues, Becky Shipkosky, who donated this treasure trove to us. And we’re tossing a skein of yarn into each package, too!
To enter for a chance to win one package, leave a comment on this post by 11 p.m. EST on January 5, 2011. Tell us what you’re making for yourself (or what you’d like to make for yourself) as the New Year approaches. Six winners will be selected at random and announced on January 6. Click here for the official rules: http://www.larkcrafts.com/uncategorized/sweepstakesrules/ Congratulations to our winners — Sarap, Laura, Melissa, Kitten with A Whiplash, Lynn, and Catherine!
If you’re inspired, upload a photo of your project to our Make-It-For-Myself flickr pool. Uploading a photo is not necessary to enter the giveaway. Here’s my project—a scarf I’m knitting with Habu stainless steel yarns. (Remember my post last month about the yarns in my stash I wanted to use?) I love the way the way it’s working up—almost like chain mail, don’tcha think? If you’re into yarn porn, here’s a detail of the fabric too.
Make a resolution—craft something beautiful for yourself in the New Year.
I’m making a new apron for myself to go along with my “less take out = more cooking from scratch” resolution. In the new year, I hope to learn to knit.

I’m making myself a fashionable diaper bag. I saw one that caught my eye, and I’m trying to make my first bag pattern, it will be quite a challenge.
What a wonderful idea! …….not sure I’ve ever taken the time to knit or crochet something just for me! Thanks for such a wonderful idea!
I’m busy finishing my scarf which has been ongoing for some time now. It’s (going to be) a super wide, Doctor Who length scarf which keeps being put aside while I make things for other people so I am DETERMINED to finish it before I start anything else.
I’m abandoning the needles for a little while and working on silhouette cutter vinyl art for the walls. Woot!
I’ve been making drafts for myself since I can’t stand cold. Thanks for chance to win!

I recently bought a tri-loom, and since it is now cold, I need to make myself some shawls!
I’m always making something for myself. I make glass beads so, of course jewelry is on my list of things to make. Needlearts wise, I have a patchwork bag cut out of leftover wool fabrics. It’s reversible and I’m using fabric from clothes my mom and I made when I was a kid at home. It really brings back lots of memories.
I hope to make myself a soft winter scarf in tropical colors. It would brighten my walks and keep me toasty — just what I need this winter.
I need to use up my fabric stash right now so I am going to make some valentine quilted mug rugs! thanks and enjoy your time off! happy new year.

Hi, I am making a shawl for myself and plan to make a scarf for myself. Honestly though, I am usually focused on making for others.
My gosh that stainless steel yarn is fabulous! Let’s see, I knitted so much for everyone else, my arm and hand went numb. I thought long and hard about what I should knit for myself and I am thinking of a lacy shawl. Being that it is burrrrr bitter cold here, the thoughts of a lacy shawl knitted in a baby soft alpaca will help get thru the chilly winter months!
I would love to make a hat and some mittens.
I got some yarn for Christmas and am making a shell for myself.
I want ot sit down and make myself a new bag- a big kind of all purpose throw it all in kind of bag with some handy pockets here and there. I have some piles of clothes just waiting to be upcycled for this project!!!!!
I’m going to make a scarf for myself – as soon as I finish the one for my daughter!
I’m knitting a pair of wool slippers to felt.
This is the first year that I’ve felt the need for something to keep my hands warm other than a cup of hot cocoa. It’s a combination of the effects of global warming and local aging *sigh*. I picked up a dollar store pair of gloves while out walking, but I want ot replace them with hand knits.
I am making a valentine table runner and doing a cross stitch for the World of Charity Stitching.
What I really want to get done is my craft table -it is repurposed cabinets with a Formica top but I need another pair of casters. I am learning how to knit and I really want to make myself some fingerless mittens before winter is over!
I’m going to embroider my dish towels!
I want to make a shawl with a keyhole so that it will stay closed when I am moving about.
I’m going to finish my “for-me” Christmas projects that got put on the back burner because of Christmas! A quilted tree skirt and some holiday placemats.
I got a couple of new crochet books for Christmas. I’d really like to make a sweater for myself soon. I mainly make things for other folks.
New year’s resolution: make more crafts!

I am teaching myself knitting and making myself a scarf
Thanks for some other informative web site. Where else may just I get that type of information written in such a perfect approach? I have a project that I am just now working on, and I’ve been on the glance out for such information.
An impressive share, I simply given this onto a colleague who was doing somewhat analysis on this. And he in fact purchased me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I really feel strongly about it and love reading extra on this topic. If possible, as you become experience, would you mind updating your blog with extra details? It is extremely useful for me. Large thumb up for this blog publish!
