Twitter Rare Book Giveaway

August 19, 2010, 09:55 am  Posted by needlearts

Do you know about the Lark Needlearts Twitter (@LarkNeedlearts)? We started it a few weeks ago and so far it’s been a mix of what our group finds fun and interesting in the needlearts world, in Asheville, and beyond. (We do think about things other than crafts sometimes.) Eventually we hope to use it for all sorts of things–including calls for entry for some of our books.

Since it’s just a baby, we thought it would be nice to do something special for our early followers. Instead of the typical book giveaway, we wanted to dig deeper. With a back catalog that spans decades, we headed down to the Lark basement to scare up a couple candidates that are out of print. A couple books with first editions that retail in the $50-$200 range. A couple books that really have no equal:

Making Great Sausage

Sure only one of them has to do with needlearts, but they both include plenty of projects to make anyone’s late summer and early fall just a little bit more awesome. Seriously, where else could you find instructions for sewing these:

And for the vegetarians out there: Don’t worry! The sausage book has non-meat recipes too (we are based in Asheville after all!). Here are a couple photos to whet your appetite:

To enter for a chance to win, start following Lark Needlearts on Twitter in the next week (@LarkNeedlearts). We’ll use a random number generator based on the @ replies during the contest period specified on Twitter. You can message us about the books, or tell us what you’d like to see more of on our Twitter. The winner will be contacted through direct message. Oh and please read the official rules: www.larkcrafts.com/uncategorized/sweepstakesrules

Good luck!

I'm no vegetarian, but I find the top right image on the cover of “Making Great Sausage” slightly disturbing! :)
