Aimee Ray's Doodle Stitching Books

UPDATE: Congratulations to Aileen! She is our randomly selected winner of the Doodle Stitching giveaway. Thanks so much to everyone for participating!

Six years ago, I had the pleasure of working with Aimee Ray on her first Doodle Stitching book. It was so exciting to see Aimee’s talent come to life on the pages of Doodle Stitching, and when the book was completed, I knew we hadn’t seen the last of her.

And, lucky for us, we haven’t! I left Lark to have a baby and stay home for a few years, but as many of you know, Aimee went on to author Doodle Stitching: The Motif Collection. And oh-so-serendipitously, the first project that came across my desk when I returned to Lark last July was helping to shepherd Aimee’s third Doodle Stitching book, Doodle Stitching: Embroidery & Beyond, through its final phases before publication.

It didn’t surprise me to discover that Aimee hadn’t lost her knack for creating stylish, fresh, and fun designs. True to its name, Embroidery & Beyond includes a variety of techniques such as Cross Stitch, Appliqué, Redwork, and Sashiko and Shisha, just to name a few. And you’ll be treated to all sorts of new and fetching projects, like a charming Fair Isle Doll Skirt; a cozy Snow White, Red Rose Fleece Scarf; a snazzy Canvas Cuckoo Clock; and an adorable Felt Appliqué Babushka doll.

Felt Appliqué Babushka

Doodle Stitching: Embroidery & Beyond will hit the shelves this March, but one lucky winner won’t have to wait that long. We’re giving away all three copies of Aimee’s Doodle Stitching books, including an advance copy of Embroidery & Beyond! To enter to win, leave a comment on this post between now and 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 23. Any comment is fine, but we’d love to hear what embroidery projects you’ve got lined up for the coming months. One winner will be selected at random from among all eligible entries and announced by Thursday, January 24. Click here for the official rules, and good luck!

I have several large Dimensions cross stitch kits to work on, including a gorgeous peacock and a pair of swans. I have a set of herbs in pots (regular embroidery) iron-on transfers that I plan to stitch in green floss on white cotton and make into a quilt. I want to make four wall hangings, for the four seasons, that have a central embroidered panel surrounded by a pieced border. I want to make a knitting projects tote bag with an embroidered front panel, as well as cover several notebooks with embroidered fabric covers–one for myself, and a couple for gifts. My dream project for the year is to embroider blocks for a family tree quilt that would have the names, birthplaces, country heritage motifs, etc, of ancestors.
